Every year our neighborhood (Orchard Ridge) has a 4th of parade picnic with a parade for the kids and games and free food for the neighborhood folks. The highlight of the day for John and Isabelle was the fire engine that they were allowed to explore after the parade. John even tried on one of the helmets which I swear weighed 10 pounds! This was followed by a candy dash for the little kids, and sack races, ballon toss and wheelbarrow races for the older folks. Next year we are going to plan ahead more and deck out the kids bikes in decorations for the parade...just like we used to so when we were younger...I cannot wait!!! :)
